Arrow Sudoku: Rules, Examples & Strategy

Arrow Sudoku adds arithmetic to standard Sudoku. Each cage has a circled number — digits must sum to it.

Rules

  1. Standard Sudoku rules apply: rows, columns, 3x3 boxes have digits 1-9 once.
  2. Each cage has a circled cell. Digits in cage sum to circled number.
  3. Repeats allowed in cages (unlike Killer Sudoku).

Strategy

1) Small sums first

Circled numbers 1-4 have few combinations.

2) Use row/column constraints

Row/column rules are primary elimination tool.

3) Forced cages

When row has 8 digits, remaining cage cell is forced.
